"As to your last question (What is more significant to people, food or superstition?), if you had ever been really hungry, I think that you would have no trouble with the answer."

Indeed, I had no trouble at all with the answer. I was thinking of a certain verse, Job 23:12, "...I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food."

"You owe a stupid offset contribution, a rather large one, to your local food bank, and pay it anonymously and without the superstition attached."

It just so happens that the local food bank is at my church... fancy doing that without the "superstition", if you will, attached.

Oh, and pray Elizabeth, do send the goddess my best regards.

Jonathan, your first offset contribution needs to go to the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English); hope someone can help you clean up your act.

May I point out that one of the organizations I suggested, Moody Bible Institute (MBI) is, indeed, a world leader in humanitarian aid. I also said of ministries to support, "...to name just a few." Its really just a "fill in the blank with your own option". You're right, of course, that it is one's duty as a Christian to support the poor and hungry, but which is more significant: People dying of hunger or people dying without a knowledge of Christ?
